1) Via delle Volte
One of the most characteristic streets in Ferrara! This long, medieval walkway once ran along the ancient embankment of the Po River — before it dramatically changed course in 1152. Cobblestones, arches and centuries of history… the perfect warm-up for our walk!
2) Jewish Ghetto (Ghetto Ebraico)
Before reaching the main square, we take a quick detour into the historic Jewish Ghetto. Ferrara’s Jewish community has been documented since the 13th century, long before the ghetto itself existed. A fascinating chapter of the city’s past that deserves a moment of exploration!
3) Piazza Trento e Trieste
Welcome to Ferrara’s main square! In medieval times it was known as Piazza del Mercato delle Erbe — the vegetable market square. Today it’s still one of the most vibrant places in the city, surrounded by history, cafés and everyday local life.
4) Ferrara Cathedral
The most important church in Ferrara! Over the centuries, the cathedral has been expanded and transformed many times, gaining Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements that make it wonderfully eclectic. Get ready to learn its story!
5) Palazzo Municipale (Comune di Ferrara)
Today the City Hall, this area was once the grand courtyard of the Ducal Palace. One of the most distinctive architectural elements is “Lo Scalone,” a monumental staircase with plenty of history behind it — and yes, we’re definitely going to talk about it!
6) Castello Estense
Ferrara’s superstar! Surrounded by a moat and full of stories about dukes, intrigues and Renaissance power, the Estense Castle is a must-see. A symbol of the city that locals are very proud of.

This circular courtyard belongs to Ferrara’s Municipal Theatre — and it’s absolutely worth a stop. Step inside, look up, and enjoy one of the most unusual and photogenic views in the city!
8) Corso Ercole I d’Este
One of the most elegant streets in Ferrara! As you walk, look up and admire its Renaissance palaces. The star of the show is the famous Palazzo dei Diamanti, with its 8,500 stone “diamonds” on the façade. And yes… I’ll tell you the fun story behind them!

At the beginning of every digital guide you will find a map that will show you the itinerary! However, you don’t need to use that one! Before every attraction / monuments included in the tour you will find a button that connects you to google map. You just press that button and you are done! Once you get to your destination you can go back to the digital guide and read/listen everything!
