1) Palazzo Te
We start with a masterpiece! Palazzo Te is one of the greatest examples of Italian Mannerism, commissioned by Federico II Gonzaga as a place of leisure and… let’s say, rather extravagant entertainment. Its frescoes, architecture and bold artistic choices make it one of Mantua’s must-see attractions.

2) Pescherie di Giulio Romano – Rio
These beautiful loggias, designed by Giulio Romano, overlook the Rio canal and once connected the fish market (“Pescherie”) to the slaughter area (“Beccherie”). A charming corner of Mantua where history meets peaceful water reflections — a great spot for photos!
3) Piazza delle Erbe
One of Mantua’s most iconic squares! Surrounded by medieval arcades, historic buildings and lively cafés, Piazza delle Erbe has always been at the heart of the city’s daily life. A perfect place to understand Mantua’s atmosphere.
4) Torre dell’Orologio
This tower is famous for its extraordinary astrological clock, crafted by Bartolomeo Manfredi. It doesn’t just tell time — it shows moon phases, zodiac signs, sunrise and sunset times… basically a 15th-century “smartwatch” with serious style.

5) Rotonda di San Lorenzo
The oldest church in Mantua and a rare example of Lombard Romanesque architecture. Built around the Holy Sepulchre’s shape, it’s deeply connected to one of the city’s most important relics. A small but incredibly atmospheric stop.
6) Basilica di Sant’Andrea
One of the most important churches in Christianity! According to tradition, the basilica preserves the Precious Blood of Christ, collected by St. Longinus. Designed partly by Leon Battista Alberti, it’s monumental, majestic and full of symbolism.
7) Scientific Bibiena Theater
A true architectural gem! The Bibiena Theatre, built in the 18th century, is considered one of the most beautiful theatres in Italy — and even Mozart performed here at age 14. Elegant, intimate and acoustically perfect.

Welcome to Mantua’s grandest square! Piazza Sordello has been the political, religious and social centre of the city for centuries. Festivals, ceremonies, historic events… everything happened here. A real open-air history book!
9) Duomo – Cathedral of San Pietro
Mantua’s cathedral is an impressive mix of styles shaped across centuries. Its origins date back to the 5th century, but what you see today blends Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque details beautifully. A majestic religious landmark.
10) Palazzo Ducale di Mantova
The ultimate symbol of Gonzaga power! One of Europe’s largest palace complexes with more than 500 rooms (yes, 500!), including Corte Vecchia, Corte Nuova and Castello di San Giorgio. A place full of masterpieces — and stories of politics, art and royal intrigue.
